“Pavement Pounder” - Miramar, FL—May 6, 2008—Derran Dugger and David Swanson of Rockin Ronny’s Superstore car audio shop located in Mankato, Minnesota have created the ultimate concert hall on wheels filled with JL Audio equipment.

When local Three Eagles Communication radio station 95.7 The Blaze broadcasting to the Mankato & surrounding communities of Southern Minnesota was ready to introduce their new hard rock music station, they called upon Rockin Ronny’s to create a promotional vehicle that could make some noise in town both visually and aurally.


The station purchased an 18 ft. cube van and gave Rockin Ronny’s free reign to create a one of a kind design that would draw attention. The result is a ride filled with JL Audio amplifiers, speakers, and wiring mounted on the outside of the cube that actively play the station’s music live while driving or standing still on display. The idea that the guys at Rockin Ronny’s came up with was a boom box on wheels, literally. They enlarged an image of a real boombox to the size of the cube on the back of the truck, had it printed on vinyl and applied. After the vinyl was applied they mounted all of the JL Audio speakers in the locations that the speakers were on the enlarged boombox graphic. There are a total of eight 13.5 inch W1 woofers, and eight JL Audio Marine Component speakers on each side of the truck. The result is a truck that shakes the pavement below.


The truck was completely refinished from top to bottom, including sandblasting the undercarriage and lift gate, sprayed over three gallons of undercoating on the underside of the truck, refinished the paint on the cab, tinted the windows, even added new wheels. Finally to cap it off, a mirror finish stainless Magnaflow exhaust system that sweet sounds are flowing through was installed to make the engine sound as good as the stereo.

The inside of the truck was meticulously finished to show quality as well, with no expense spared. There is a mirror finished wood floor, LED lighting stuffed in every nook and cranny, a total of 16 woofer enclosures carefully hidden behind walls wrapped in MDF, sprayed with truck bed liner and edged in bright-tred aluminum, and a custom shredded aluminum amp rack to house the eight JL Audio amplifiers, six Stinger Deep Cycle Batteries, and two 90 amp Cascade power supplies that allow the vehicle to be plugged into 120volt AC power for endless musical mayhem. There is also a Peavey multi-channel mixer with a microphone to allow the radio station to talk over music during events.


The van is used by 95.7 The Blaze for a number of local promotional activities from live remotes, parades and local rock concerts presented by the station over the summer with popular musical groups, Nine Inch Nails, Sevendust, Kid Rock, Stone Temple Pilots, Rockfest 2008 and many more.
