I have been building simple boxes for the first time they are ported boxes. I got to thinking about tube port placement. I remember i had a box built by a local tune shop back in about 2000. It was a 2 chaimber tube ported for 2 Audiobahn AW1200X's for a 92' fullsize chevy. As i think back the ports seemed to be almost right at the back of the sub on the inside of the box in the side's . they were 4 inch tube ports that looked like were made from sewege pipe as i make mine but just a thin form. So as i wondered i thought about there placement. Was the guy trying to place the ports as close to the back of the sub as possible so that the sub would pull and push as as much as it could and as close as it could to get the most air flow from the port in such to get the best sound and also have them at the right hrtz . So i have to wonder should you build a box so that the tube port is in the right Hrtz and also so that the tube port if you will mount it mid way in the side of the box or in the top of it to get it as close to the sub back vent hole as you can would it help any. Then i read on here a day or so ago where a guy had another good idea i thought. He was talking about placing the tube port so that the back of the box would reflect the sub air the best. Can anyone roll on this? Any ideas about tube port placement?

You can actually put the port anywhere on an enclosure you want. Just remember to keep the tube (port) away from the rear wall, sides walls and the speaker the diameter of the tube ( if the OD of the tube is 4" then keep it 4" away from walls and/ speaker).
