Hey guys, been a while since I've been around, I've been out of the game for a while due to buying a house and then a car for the old lady so money has been tight, so I sold the "Ground Pounder" system (4 12" MTX Road Thunders) LOL - and decided to go with a little more trunk space and got a Kicker 15" L5 - Sooo to the question, I know you've missed my amateur noob questions :prop: - It's a Dual Voice Coal 4 Ohm sub, so to reassure myself (been a while) I wire the Neg to Neg and Pos to Pos and then connect to the corresponding Neg and Pos on the terminal, right? So since its only 1 sub (never had a 1 sub system) does it matter how I wire it to a 2 Channel amp? Do I use the mono set up (Pos on 1 channel Neg on other channel) or just use 1 channel? Sorry my questions are so stupid :stupid: but your help is much appreciated - Thanks.

Ok - So What Gauge Wire Would Be Best? Im Using 12 Gauge For The Amp To Sub But What About Just To Wire The Sub? Could I Use As Small As 18 Gauge Or Do I Need Bigger?

It all depends on the power. The bigger the better, 18 is to small. I am thinking that you will be using 1000 watts so 18 is to small use 12 all around

yeah its a 1000 watt amp - OK if the negs are connected to each other on the sub, then how do i run wire to the terminal? the only way i can think of is run 1 wire from neg to neg, then in the middle of that splice it and connect another wire and run it to the terminal and do the same for pos?!? or can i do this -- Bottom picture

just run 4 gauge all the way back to the amp and then 12 or 8 to the sub

Just wire each voice coil with its own pair of wires then connect the neg's to the neg of the amp, that would be the same as doing what u say bu i think it would be easier to have just two sets of wire. If it is a 2 channel amp wire the bridged channel. It should say Bridged. In other words ur amp is like this

CH 1 CH2
(+ -) (+ -)
[-.......+]
[Bridged] is like that using the neg from one channel and pos from the other. It sould be labeled on your amp where it says the channel numbers.
Hope you understand, let me know if you dont.
