My (used) vehicle came with an after-market Sony CDX T69 changer fitted. It worked fine until recently when it decided to eat the discs and refused to disgorge them. Retrieving the discs damged the unit and I decided to ditch it. I now have a replacement, which I know works, but the head unit (a factory fitted Ford 7000 RDS-EON) isn't able to recognise it and the changer will not even eject the magazine. Does anyone know if there is some sort of a reset routine which is needed to get this operational?

I have not known many changers to work with Head Units outside their own company (i.e. sony changer w/ sony HU) Is the changer you got afterwards the same exact unit as the origional, and does the wire plug fit the same?

Other than that I don't really know. I've never had a factory hu with a changer. Try contacting your dealer, but they dont always know.

Thanks for your input. The replacement changer is exactly the same as the original (other than for the serial number obviously!) and the plugs are a perfect fit. I took the changer to a local audio shop and it worked fine there - guess I'll just have to keep tinkering.

Still can't track down the problem - the only non-cable item between the head unit and the changer is a box with the title "Connects 2" on it - I've no idea how I can test this to see if it is the problem!
