Hello there,

i want to have a stereo in a car with no actual connections to the car. for example, there is a head unit, amp, battery, mids and tweeters, and subs, but nothing is hooked up to the car! Can this be done?

I think this will work, but the head unit will need to be powered somehow. Is there a way to power the head unit without hooking it up to the car. Otherwise, Is there another way to make this work WITH THIS SETUP.

I also have a battery charger to recharge the battery, but this will not have anything to do with the car.

this is all in theory.

Thanks for anything you can help me with!

You have to ground your battery and amp(s) somewhere.

Are you talking about having a 2nd, seperate battery to run the stereo, and not affect the car's electrical system?

Yes you can do it, but, its more hassle than its worth IMO.

BTW, you don't need to "ground", the connections, just run all the grounds to the " - " battery terminal, so its like running double power wires, just as long as you make a complete loop (circuit).

you would have to have a way to turn on the system (head unit), you can either run the ignition wire to the car (doesn't draw hardly any power), or put a switch on it. Other than that, it would mostly just involve running lots more power wire and recharging the battery a lot.
